Bloomsbury Publishing is delighted to announce a forthcoming literary salon featuring book critic and author David Ulin in conversation with Polly Samson, novelist, short-story writer, and lyricist and David Gilmour, musician, songwriter, and her partner, in Los Angeles. Polly will talk about her life in books and the inspiration for her most recent novel, The Kindness, and short-story collection, Perfect Lives. David and Polly will discuss their songwriting partnership, the writing process between lyricist and musician, and make specific reference to their most recent chart-topping album, Rattle That Lock.
Polly Samson is the author of two story collections and two novels and has contributed lyrics to Pink Floyd albums, including the chart-topping The Division Bell, and two solo records from David Gilmour. She has been shortlisted for the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award, the V. S. Pritchett Memorial Prize, and the Edge Hill Short Story Prize.
Polly Samson’s novel, The Kindness, is published in paperback on March 22nd, and her short story collection Perfect Lives is also available. David Gilmour’s “Rattle That Lock” sold-out US Tour plays concerts in LA, Toronto, Chicago, and New York in March and April.
